Outcome Unclear

Chicago and Southern Airlines received their first Lockheed Electra 10, 1056, on March 31, 1936 which they christened the City of New Orleans. The Electra was registered NC16021 and was put on the company's mainline, Chicago to New Orleans. By the early 1940s (likely 1940-1942) the aircraft was sold to the Royal Air Force where its registration was changed to AX766 and was stationed at Takoradi, West Africa. It was apparently damaged in a crash at the beginning of April 1944, its registration was cancelled on April 22, 1944. Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to find any details about this crash.
