July 22, 1935, Lockheed delivered Electra 1031 to Braniff Airways in Oklahoma City with registration NC14942; after flying for the airline for the next five years the aircraft was sold to the Canadian Department of National Defense for use by Royal Canadian Air Force on August 2, 1940. TheElectra was reregistered as CF-BRF for the flight up to Canada. CF-BRF served in Canada for five years until May 2, 1946, when it was retired. The RCAF soon scrapped the Electra following its retirement.
